Mazrivo

For agribusinesses, cooperatives and exporters

Know who you buy from, what you weighed and what you paid.

One record from the farmer to the buyer, for companies that buy from smallholder farmers across Africa.

The Mazrivo portal’s overview for a supervisor: registrations to verify, possible duplicates, places to confirm and other work waiting, each with its count.
The Mazrivo app’s home screen: visits due today, inputs to acknowledge, readiness requests and today’s tasks.
  • On the app: Field officer The day’s visits, deliveries and collections, on the phone.

  • On the portal: Supervisor Everything waiting for a decision, on the portal.

How it works

Six steps, one record.

  1. Register

Farmers and their plots, mapped by GPS.

  2. Support

Inputs on credit, within each farmer’s limit.

  3. Buy

Weighed at the scale, approved by a second person.

  4. Test and store

Lot by lot and store by store, to the truck.

  5. Pay

What each farmer is owed, less their input credit.

    In preparation:Mobile money payouts.

  6. Trace

Any lot back to its farmers and plots.

Register

Every farmer registered once, on a phone.

With or without a phone or an identity document: a village chief’s attestation or a witness can confirm who they are.

A registration on the portal with no identity document, confirmed by a witness, waiting for the supervisor to verify it or return it to the officer.
A farmer’s registration on the app, ready to submit: portrait, identity, home, cooperative, duplicate check, evidence, notice and the farmer’s signature.
  • On the app: Field officer Registers a farmer, with their portrait and signature.

  • On the portal: Supervisor Verifies each registration, or returns it with a reason.

Buy

Every kilo weighed in front of the farmer.

Gross, tare and net, the ticket and photos, at the day’s price. Nothing is stock or money owed until a second person approves it.

A provisional intake on the portal: gross, tare and net, the scale and the supplier, with Approve, Return to buyer and Reject.
The app’s weighing step: gross 2,560 kg, tare 60 kg, net 2,500 kg of maize.
  • On the app: Buyer at the scale Records the weighing; the app works out the net.

  • On the portal: Approver Approves, returns or rejects each intake.

Trace

Any lot, traced back to the plot.

Each lot has a passport with a QR code, and each shipment of cocoa, coffee, soya or oil palm carries its EU due diligence statement.

In preparation:Screening of each plot against a reference deforestation dataset.

A soya lot’s journey on the portal, from the farmer and the intake to the lot and the shipment, with its plots, tests and QR passport.
An EUDR plot check on the portal: the plot on a map with the reference areas around it, and why it is ready.
  • On the portal: Quality lead Follows a lot from its farmers to the buyer.

  • On the portal: Quality lead Checks each plot against forest loss and protected areas.

Offline

Works where the network does not.

Records wait on the phone and are sent when there is signal: once, never twice.

The app’s sync centre, offline: three records queued on the phone and two synchronised.
A farmer’s profile on the app: verified, two plots, this season’s maize and its forecast.
  • On the app: Field officer Sees what is still on the phone and what was accepted.

  • On the app: Field officer Has each farmer’s plots, season and forecast at hand.

The farmers

Every record starts with a person.

Each farmer hears how their data will be used, in one of their country’s languages, before they are registered.

  • A farmer in a wide straw hat
  • A farmer in a green and gold head wrap
  • A young farmer in a patterned head wrap
  • A farmer in a green shirt
Farmers photographed with their permission.

Why trust it

Built for the field, and for those who check your work.

  • A second person approves

Nobody approves a record they created, and every change is kept with who made it and when.

  • Your data stays yours

Each company’s records are kept apart by the database itself, not only by the screens.

  • Data protection from the start

The notice language and the basis for using each farmer’s data are recorded at registration.

In preparation:Declarations to each country’s data protection authority, prepared with counsel.

  • Across Africa, in English and French

For French- and English-speaking countries, with each country’s rules: phone numbers, identity documents, languages, administrative areas, currency.
